About Michael Magdy Bottros , MD

Dr. Michael Bottros is the former founding Director of the Acute Pain Service and Associate Chief of Pain Management at Washington University in St. Louis. He currently serves as the Clinical Operations and Medical Director for Pain Services at Keck - USC. Dr. Bottros draws on his extensive experience to provide an evidence-based, patient-tailored approach to treat acute and chronic pain. Using a multi-modal approach, he uses, but is not limited to: leading-edge advanced pain treatment procedures, non-opioid pain medications, drug infusions, pain psychology, and physical therapy/occupational therapy.

Dr. Michael Bottros is a clinical pain management physician. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at the Keck School of Medicine of USC and Clinical Operations and Medical Director for Pain Services at Keck - USC. After graduating Summa Cum Laude with a double major in Classics - Ancient Studies & Biology, he earned a Medical Doctorate degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He was awarded chief residency in Anesthesiology, and upon completion, specialized in a Pain Management fellowship at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.

He shortly returned to Washington University in St. Louis where over the course of the following decade, established a burgeoning acute pain service at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University and rose to the ranks of Associate Chief of Pain Management while introducing advanced pain therapeutics into the practice. He joined Keck School of Medicine of USC in 2020 as the Clinical Operations and Medical Director for Pain Services at Keck - USC.

Dr. Bottros believes that pain is a highly personal, individual matter that needs a tailored method to care for. As such, he helps his patients using leading-edge, evidence-based methods that incorporate multiple approaches to treating pain. He is passionate about educating patients and their families to empower them as they progress through their care and to strengthen the patient-physician relationship. He also travels the country, invited to lecture at hospitals and conferences in the pursuit of teaching both current and next-generation health professionals about the latest advancements in pain management. He enjoys spending time with his family, walking through the Huntington Gardens, and enjoying the nature that Southern California has to offer.
